Can you guys that use this camera provide feedback, pros/cons… Thinking of getting one for this upcoming ice season.

Also, I have a Marcum LX-7,does anybody know if there is an option in the near future to upgrade this unit to the functionality of the LX-9 (i.e. camera) ?

Thanks in advance for any constructive feedback.

    Josh,

While I don’t use a camera very often, I switched from a full size unit to a Aqua-Vu micro two years ago. I thought it would be a great idea to have something I could throw in my pocket and pull out when needed. The screens are very tiny, tough to see outside in any light (better inside a dark shelter) and the micro cameras are really tough to get into the correct position and stay there.

IMHO, I think you will be much happier with a full size screen and camera. Needless to say, I will be switching back to a Marcum camera.

Josh Steve hit the nail on the head with not being able to see in daylight and just plain aqward to find any kind of decent way to set up and handle and position the small camera I just sold mine last week and upgraded to an Lx-9 good luck….

Thanks for the feedback all, this will certainly factor into my decision. Thanks for posting the link to the upgrade James.

I agree with others, spend more time trying to get the camera pointed the right direction and the screen at the right angle to be able to see it. If you have lots of patience and always fish inside a shelter, its the camera for you.

I also have a Aqua-Vu Micro and I have to agree with all the other posters, it is a really bad unit for seeing anything, outside of a shelter. It is convenient though, for just throwing in your pocket and moving.

    I have a Micro II. Prior i had a Micro 1

Unless in clear water and daytime, the light will turn on.

A light that is located so close to the lense reflects GLARE back into the camera lens…Thus creating the “SNOWSTORM”.

Expect a snowstorm in anything but clear water during daytime.

I actually thought the origional was better since it had the ability to turn the light ON/OFF. Micro II the light is AUTO…Which blows.

    HOWEVER,
It’s always in my tacklebox in the winter since its so small. Can be used lickedy split, and once you lower your expectations it’ll do just fine for most things.

    My main uses:
I use it in shallow water rather than a marcum to find green weeds and even panfish in the winter.
I use it to identify fish species like a school of cats vs crappies.
