Congratulations Glenn!!! I know you are not my local, but thank you for your hard work! I’m sure if it’s anything like the unions I’ve been in, your job was a thankless one. Everyone bitches about what they don’t have or not getting, but they don’t realize what their union and those before them fought, negotiated, and strategized for. I also want to thank you for helping me with a few questions I’ve asked you via pm over the last few years between here and another site when I had questions. Or I just wanted to see how other unions handle a situation. You were always helpful. Enjoy your retirement! You deserve a break!

June 21, 2020 at 9:26 pm #1951591Thanks guys, I will still be doing it till the end of September. Sounds like I’ll also be getting involved in another organizing drive.

Ice CapPosts: 2151June 22, 2020 at 7:26 am #1951611You will enjoy it. I’m on my second year. Bought our first lake place right after I retired. I’m spending most my time up there during the week coming home long enough to mow lawn, do laundry and then head back up. Most of last winter was spent on Red ice fishing.
Don’t make yourself think you have to constantly keep yourself busy working on something or look productive. That’s not retirement. Most of all enjoy yourself and you’re family more and let the world keep on spinning while you’re doing it. Congratulations and enjoy!
June 22, 2020 at 11:09 am #1951668Congrats Glenn! Sucks it wasn’t on your terms, but that seems to occur less and less in this day and age. Now you have time to swing over to Sartell for the good Marnanteli’s za!

Nowadays you see so many people having to work into their 70s. My dad retired at 58. He had his 40 in at the UAW and couldn’t be happier. His days are spent either on the water, or watching the grandkids. Enjoy the time, you’ve earned it.
June 23, 2020 at 8:07 pm #1952157I’m starting to really think I should have joined the union.
I’m really glad I did. In 320 days I’ll be 62 and retired. I’ll have 25 yrs in the 49ers Union. I’ll retire Very comfortably. My only regret is I could have joined 6 yrs sooner and didn’t. Enjoy your retirement Glen… you earned it!
June 23, 2020 at 8:28 pm #1952164Thanks all you guys for the words of encouragement. For if not being under my terms I appreciate all your positive spin on retirement. Still a little apprehensive about it yet.

Glenn, does this mean you won’t be coming to Red Wing any longer?
AnonymousInactivePosts: 0September 1, 2020 at 8:13 am #1969595I’m not sure… I’m 62, with my pension & ss & a healthy portfolio, I could retire anytime, but, I really still like doing what I do. It’s a nice position to be in.

Yea pretty much. I got 1 more trip planned on Sept 10th. It’s been a while with this virus. Everything was done via teleconference since April.
I did come down first part of Aug for an arbitration though.
