Eddy’s? Really? I was really impressed by the suggestions until that. While You may know and I may know why we wouldn’t step foot into the place the poster may not.

Tribe owned and GLIFWC endorsed. You would be better off starving or picking up some road kill before stepping in there.

There I did it, the thread has gone political. tongue

I know, I just didn’t want to be the one to say it. Guess it was kind of silly of me to suggest a place I’ve never been to and have no intention of ever going.

Have you tried the “Experience” at Toucan’s for breakfast? It is beautiful!

I may never go to breakfast there again after the last fail….

Was going to ask what went wrong but I guess it really doesn’t matter. Most likely all places are hit or miss. One Sunday we waited an hour and a half at Twin Pines for breakfast and we had a 4 year old and a two year old with us. I will give some credit to Linda Eno (the owner) as she did stop by our table a couple times apologizing and brought some balloons to amuse the kids.

Another place we’ve been to a few times that we liked was Castaway’s over in Malmo, although I’m not sure I’d recommend that for a Mothers day outing. Unless mom or the MIL really get’s into meat raffles. grin

Try Lonesome Pine on bay lake. 7 miles from Garrison and great food. Definitely a step above the areas resort bar food.

    Jon, do tell…

Ok, so this was a Saturday morning. The evening before they had an all you can eat fish fry dinner as the nightly special. So they cooked up a lot of frozen fish that night.

Now, I’ll say that most places up there do a fine job at breakfast. Hard to screw that up. Typically, every place will serve up a GENEROUS portion of Hash Browns when ordered at breakfast. Real hash browns, fresh grated never frozen fried up in butter hash browns! Most places with melted cheese and onions if you like. YUM!!! Not this day. They must have run out of hash browns. What they did was send out potato cakes. (Think McDonalds or Arby’s potato cakes.) Ok, I could have been ok with that if 1) they had mentioned this when ordered. And 2) was not fried up in last night’s fish oil. The hash brown potato cakes tasted awful. Heavy on the fried fish taste. Not good eats for me on a Saturday AM. When that kind of stuff happens, you just got to shake your head and wonder what the hell they were thinking!

I have never had them replace the hash browns with potato cakes, but I know others that have had it happen. I would NOT have been happy at all. If they ever pull that with me I will tell them to keep their breakfast, walk back across the channel and cook my own. If I order hash browns, I WANT HASH BROWNS smirk

Hunters and Castaways are good choices. Food is always pretty good. Both places are busy, so be patient! I like a trip through a salad bar and both places usually offer a salad bar with dinner. waytogo

Liberty was fantastic when they first opened. They had a trained chef who did some awesome twists on basic dishes, great menu. Like the Oriental chicken wings for example. But after he left, no one could get it right…. Hope the new owners succeed. Will be my first stop for dinner next trip up!

Sure wish Carlsona was still there! Man do I miss that place…..

So this post has taken a turn into lake area reviews. It’s not all bad. Here are some places to check out if you do make it up this summer.

Breakfast – The Sunrise Cafe in Malmo. (In the same building as the Cenex station) They do everything on the menu right. That and great service and a bottomless cup of coffee.

Lunch – Dari VI in Isle. Good food, nothing fancy, always hits the spot. You can get in and out in a hurry and back to fishing.

Sandwich / Snacks to go. (Boat food) The Deli in Teals Market downtown Isle. A close second are the deli sandwiches in the Malmo Mart (Marathon gas station)

I’ll add for bar food that Bay View in Cove does a decent job including breakfast.
