Resort Recommendation

Looking for some expertise in terms of cabins to book for summer/fall family fishing vacations. Any help from the IDO community would be much appreciated. Things I’m looking for are:

– Nice cabins
– No 1-week minimum or Sat to Sat type bookings (often go for 2-4 days)
– Online booking and availability check (very important to me)
– Good pan fish fishing for taking kids out
– Good boat launch on site or close by
– Good play area and/or things to do close by for kids when not fishing
– Northern Minnesota or Northern Wisconsin location (traveling from Twin Cities)

Red Door on Mille Lacs is a VERY close fit on the above and I love the resort – but we are looking to mix it up with other lakes and regions but with a similar feel. The online booking is really important to me as often the only time I get to look into and plan these trips are short time windows, odd hours, etc. and playing phone tag gets difficult. Thanks!

Grand Pines resort on Round lake in Hayward, WI sounds like it fits your requirements nicely. Downside? It is relatively expensive. There are numerous summer activities for the kids to do in Hayward. I have stayed in their cabins dozens of times and the location and feel is like nothing else, simply amazing.

Trappers lodge leech lake

Here is a place I recommend in northern Wi. Lots to do in the area with out a lot of driving. Rob the owner is a well known guide.

Life O Riley on lake Vermillion. Great panfishing off the dock & in small bays nearby. Shallow beach area with toys. Great smallmouth, walleye, northern fishing nearby.

I used to be a regular at Brindley’s Harbor on Leech. Nice cabins at a well run resort. Great fishing and they do everything possible to put you on fish. Literally, Mike will ask what you want to catch, your preferred method and time of day. Then he will tell you the exact place and presentation. Incredible.
