Report for The Red Door Resort 1-7-15

The reports over the week that came in are that folks are still catching a number of small walleye. A number of big walleye were caught with a few over the 28 inch mark! Reports of eelpout being caught are also a great sign for the lake. The ice conditions have improved along our access and we have a plan to move our bridge over in front of the access allowing a straight shot at the bridge! We have spent a great deal of time preparing the access with all the cracks and ice movement as of late. We are planning on having our access open to all vehicle traffic along with wheelhouses this coming weekend. Our ice thickness now runs from 19 inches on up!

Please maintain your speed on the ice to 10-15mph….we will be watching this closely.

Bob I have been seeing reports of these small walleye you and others have reported. All the same year class or does it vary? Inches? This most certainly is a good sign for the lake (different from what the brain wizard DNR folks have been saying…) RR

they are talking about them being from the 2012 and 2013 class. They are around 10-12 inches in length. There others a few other sizes being caught too…….

On Saturday I got all excited an hour or so after sundown. I’ve got a good one, can someone grab the ducer?

What a surprise when my very first eelpout comes curling up through the hole. I went walleye free for the night.

Overall we were pretty slow. Our neighbors picked up a nice 20″ and a couple small walleyes. Location was the first shoreline break.

We got a bunch of those small eyes last weekend’ but the bonus for us was the tulibee!
