Replace shaft on motorguide xi3

    Has anyone replaced a shaft on their trolling motor? I have tried but cannot seem to be able to turn the shaft in all the way by hand is there any suggestions you can give me to help. It just may be that I’m not strong enough. If you have experience with this I would appreciate any insights you have. Thanks

    I wrapped rubber on the shaft,and used channel lock pliers to turn.Just make sure you use the proper sealant.Was harder removing the old one,heat gun helped.

    Thanks. Grip is a problem. How long do I have to get it in before the lock tight sets up.

    I used Locktite 243(blue),takes about 24 hours to set.Just apply not too much to threads and let set for 24 hours.It was cheaper for me to buy the shaft online and replace it myself,vs having to ship it to an ASC.

    Thanks. Yes less expensive and I have to drive 2 hours to my closest service center
