scuff, prime with a good epoxy primer and a good automotive 2k paint then clear. You will be fine.

I took mine to a local body shop. They painted it inside and out for about $1000.

I restored a ’81 lund pike. Here it is at first launch after restoration.

With bare aluminum you’ll want to make sure to use a self-etching primer first to ensure the paint adheres properly.

Me personally would not use a automotive base coat clear coat, it will show scratches and scuffs too easily. I would use a good brand of Acrylic urethane with a good hardener good paint will not be cheap but will last and hold up much longer.

Good surface prep is 90% of a good paint job as mentioned scuff feather edges of imperfections. Clean with a good grease and wax remover, tack cloth it off then a good aluminum primer tack it of again and paint, cleanliness is next to godliness and use quality paint for a good long lasting paint job.

How about checking into a wrap?
