Reminiscing of the good ol days

    ……of warmer weather.

As my seasonal depression further slips into darkness, I start thinking of the good times in the boat this year. But upon this thinking it becomes clear that the best times didn’t really even involve fishing.

Would love to hear of other people’s happy places this past year, with pics are better! Helps inspire the planning for next year, and turns the frown upside down for now.

Some friends and family wanted to see the fireworks after the twins game by the 4th of July this year, so I went and grabbed the boat quick and told em to go have a greenie. Called em when I pulled up to shore right behind Tony Jaros, they were pretty tickled(and pickled by that point) that we were gonna go float down the Miss while enjoying the fireworks show.

Don’t have a pic but watching our 8yr old captain the ship on the St.Croix during no wake in the fall eating her Cheetos and enjoying a root beer almost brought a tear to my eye.

    Good times.

I had some fun outings with my son this summer. He’s been out ice fishing before, so I plan to avoid the winter blues with him in an ice house a few times this year.

nice thread Nhamm. I bought my boat with fishing in mind but I have had way more fun just going out with the family swimming and playing in the water.

Holy crapoly, is that a faux wood floor on that boat bow

Yup, pretty much same thought Crappie, knew it was gonna be a lil sacrifice on the fishing end of things but couldn’t have gone any better after year one down.

It was a good summer. But like always it went too fast. So does every year.
George reeled in his first musky and is exited to do some more ice fishing this year.

    Holy Cow Nick!

Your post just made me realize how much I took for granted over the last year!
I spent about half as much time fishing as the last twelve or so years which gave me some time to smell the roses!

First few weeks in Jan I found out what binge watching tv shows were while recovering from a visit with the doctor. That was an eye opener and something I do not want to get addicted to.

Hell, I could fill up a page of boring to you stuff…

I’ll just leave with… Tomorrow isn’t promised. Enjoy today to look back on tomorrow.

Yeah, it was a fun summer. Fishing often took a back seat, but our kids had a fun summer. Each Monday, we’d get, “when are we going to the cabin again?” Lucky buggers!

Edit: And of course I can never get pics to show up in the correct orientation. Maybe that will be a New Year’s resolution for me.

If you are uploading them from a computer, double click on the file to view them and you can rotate them in the windows photo viewer and save before uploading.
I don’t know if you want Brian’s Ellen panties. They come with bacon strips.

I swear that I have done that before, and they look right on the computer but end up sideways when uploaded to IDO.

    Testing this out…

(of course, it works this time)

Hey ralph, those swimmats worth the price?

They’re awesome. Kids and adults both have a blast on them. Heck, my dog even likes to jump on it.

They aren’t cheap, though. My sis-in-law got a Groupon for one last year, which made it more affordable, and we split it among my wife’s sibling’s families. ) I would assume price will come down. They’re just the rage right now.

Most of my happy places are outdoors, and I feel like I spent some quality time in them this year with the people (and dogs) I love. )

I know a few people who get the seasonal blues, but I’ve come to enjoy the winter outdoors – the peace and silence is something you don’t get in the summer and fall. Dogs barking, kids playing, cicadas buzzing… you don’t hear any of that in the winter and it’s a nice break from the busyness of warmer months. I like knowing there are only a few people outside as I’m letting the snowflakes dance across my face and melt into my hair.

That’s the damn truth. Ripley and I just took a lap of our local lake, and it was extremely peaceful (except for an occasional jealous dog in shore).

Pretty shot of Ripley. He looks tall there with those long legs. )
