It’s like a stupid criminal story, good chance it came from Florida.

I’ll vouch for that. This happened to my boat going 20mph on icy roads when I t-boned someone who slid through an intersection, with the straps on! Remember the safety straps!!

If it was a Ford or Chevy that would have never happened…..

I am amazed at how many people I see driving down the road without their rear straps strapped. Accident waiting to happen.

    I rarely see it??

Regardless, the rear straps offer little protection for what happened in the pics. They help to keep the boat from bouncing. But in an accident or dead stop they’re going to move forward, and possibly break.

Straps create downward friction. Angled correctly can assist movement forward or reverse in case of abrupt stops or. Straps used should be rated to the weight of what its holding in place.

They definitely help, but not as much as we’d like to think.

Some guys that tow big boats (23’+) have additional straps or chains with turn-buckles from the bow eye angled back and down to the trailer.

Winch posts rarely have any bracing or gussets, and are essentially destined to fail…

Never really noticed but I’ve forgot once in the last 4 years, partly because it was a new to me boat just this year. I’ve got the self retracting straps on my to do list.

Those retracting straps are awesome. Well worth the investment.

    Agreed.

I used to wonder what Dodge was thinking having the exhaust pipes going straight out the back on their trucks that also have rear cab windows to suck in the exhaust fumes. Then I thought “For Dodge, brain damage probably equals repeat sales….” devil

looking at the pic, I’m betting if a guy floored it, with the “HEMI” the boat would probably go right back on the trailer, and he’s good to go!

I got your back…I just bought a new Ram, too. This is all pure jealousy of the hemi.

Question….did your ram come with an Affliction t shirt? Mine didn’t but now I feel an overwhelming desire to buy one for some reason.

The brain damage joke was pretty funny, though.

Not only did I have to buy a affliction shirt. I upgraded to the bejeweled ass pockets and thick stitching on my Jeans

Ladies, it doesn’t matter what you drive as long as it gets you on the water.
