Reel Weeds Giveaway. An IDO Awakening.

It was ought five (that’s 2005 for you younguns) when a still relatively new IDO was looking for the next best thing.
James was young and BrianK was still spry. It happened in the winter. Reel Weeds was invented by some stranger putting IDO Ice Fishing on the map!
Before Reel Weeds most of the ice fishing talk around here was about the best way to sharpen your spud or waxies vs spikes. It was damn dull. All of a sudden everyone was talking about it and BK was dropping strings of Reel Weeds like depth charges back when he fished for something other than cats….Everyone wanted to panfish again! I don’t know what happened to the interest and the intensity but Reel Weeds faded faster than Chappy’s post count. I am here today to resurrect, for at least a short period, the long forgotten interest in the product that probably made it possible for their IDO video careers. I’m not saying they wouldn’t have made it without RW but who knows?
Anyhoo I am offering a brand new old, NEVER OPENED, hermetically sealed with OFFICIAL 2005 air inside box of Reel Weeds to the
23rd person that sends me a PM. It would be nice if you lived in or near Minnesota since I must mail this precious cargo.
Send me a PM with “Reel Weeds” in the subject line and I count them off to 23. No duplicate PM’s. doah
I have my check off list ready. You might want to wait a little bit past 2:43 PM today before unleashing the tidal wave of PMs.
In the likely even that I dont receive 23 PM’s Ill go with the last willing person to message me.

Think my set made it down a ice hole one time if even that. They did not survive fall garage cleaning 2015.

Yes. Just not on the tree as they will blend in.

They are still around and working just as advertised back then.
Only difference is the company isn’t advertising on fishing websites.

Fish the structure son, fish the structure!

I recall reports of them falling apart in the water while people were fishing.

Might be fun to put on your boat next open water season and drive around seeing if you get pulled over. Maybe show up to a busy access and see the looks on the inspectors faces. Hmm I wonder if Hobby Lobby has plastic zebra mussels.

A cousin of mine bought like 7 boxes. Brought them up to Upper Red thinking it would be lights out. I don’t think it happened that way.

You can hang them around the house and do an underwater theme room.

This might be cool. Or if you have a replica and would like to make look more REAL.
I remember seeing them and thinking “People actually buy this stuff? No way will that work.” No offence Suzuki.

Wouldn’t take them if it included a free Color-C-Lector.

I remember talking to a guy that used them on Red. They didn’t stop the crappies from passing though but he said it slowed them down.

I was personally fishing a bay on the Mississippi with two friends. I had weeds down, the other two didn’t. I don’t remember the numbers but even with them hole hopping, I ended the day with more fish on the ice then the other two combined.

Another time on Winnie, I had weeds down and EVERYONE was catching pan fish BUT me. After a while, I dropped a camera down and found pike sitting just out side of the weeds. Pike season was closed.

They don’t work in every situation, but for the people that haven’t ever tried them, you could be surprised!

Obviously I will need to use different criteria because this post isnt creating the buzz I thought it would. I will randomly choose a winner since the message count isnt working. Probably tomorrow and I will announce it here.

It would be Christmas by the time I get 23 PM’s so I just chose a winner at random. Well not really random but a stranger nonetheless. A gentlemen impressed me with his desire to try them spearing and I think that sounds neat. Hopefully we’ll all hear of his exploits good or bad but come on, you know they work!! grin
