Shimano Sienna 500 FD. I own many of them. Never fail.

I have some inline reels too, but I’m not a huge fan so far.

THe Siennas always do what I need them to.

That’s my vote too. If you have some money to burn, the Sahara is an excellent reel, but it’s not 2.5x as good as the Sienna, as the price would suggest.

One of my Sienna’s locks up when the temps get into the single digits. Have never had that problem with my Plueger President. That being said, the Sienna is a great reel for the price.

I think you have to use different reel oil. I run the sienna 500 on most of my panfish jigging rods, year round

I use a ceymar 10 on my 32″ and I’m going to put a 13 freefall ghost on my 28″. Love my other two ghost on the bull whip and the precision noodle of you want an inline.

Same here. The perfect size for panfish rods in my opinion.

I have a Pfluger President on mine. I like it because it is designed to spool braid without needing any mono backing. Saves me some time.

Pfluger President size 6920 love them and work great on very cold days.

It’s weird because it’s just 1 out of the 3 I have. Will have to try and regrease it with some better stuff.

I clean out the mostly Junk Grease and oil that come with most new reels. I then oil and lube with Quantum Hot Sauce reel oil and Grease. I have never had a reel lock up after the change

Where do you find Quantum lube as I have been looking for a week and it appears they discontinued it.

Do you guys with Siennas have any issue with the smooth handle knob? I tried it at Cabela’s and it felt very slippery. Worried about it being worse in cold weather. Considered those rubber knob covers if I purchased.
