I just got some silicone tape to try, might be worth a look at Amazon.

Oh great, I just picked some up last month and haven’t taken them out of the package yet. Of course I’ve also thrown away the receipt.

The castrating bands I have on one rod are terrible also. The might work good for a panfish rod but they’re worthless when pulling up walleye. Silicone or electrical tape is the way to go.

I have always used the silicone tape I guess because it only sticks to itself and not the cork.

    @Jighead-two

Bring them back to the store if you’re not happy with the product.

We’d rather have you open the package and fish with it for a day to form your own opinion :).

If you still don’t like it, send it back to us — we will credit your order.

    Thanks!

Pete, if you’re not happy with you’re purchase we will gladly refund your money.

With that said, we have a few questions for you:

    1. Have you actually used our product?

At the time of your original post (2:24am), you’ve owned the product for less than 6 hours based on the tracking info provided.

    2. What is the purpose of the picture? We see an enormous amount of pressure shown on your finger by sliding it under the handle. This is also evident by the opposite end of the handle digging into the cork.

If your intent was to get then band to stretch, you’ve achieved it — it WILL stretch when forced.

If your intent was to simulate fishing conditions to test the product performance before you use it (GREAT idea by the way), this is not a fair test.

    Here’s our recommendation:

    – We suggest tying your line to a fixed object.

    – Set your drag to appropriate level of tension to simulate your style of fishing.

    – Progressively load the rod while holding it how you would normally fight a fish, with the best odds of bringing it topside. (We recommend leaving your finger OUT of it — :-))

If there’s anything else we can do, please let us know!

the eyeconic bands are way better than regular castration bands. but there will still be movement. i prefer silicone tape and/or electrical tape. people say it helps keep the cork clean. for what? who cares? its going to have a rod on it.

Oof, look at that. I didn’t look at the pic in full-screen till now, if it’s denting the cork, it’s already stronger than the castrating bands…

I’ve had great luck using the Eyeconic bands vs. castration bands. While electrical or silicone tape works ok I’m not a fan of the residue it leaves on the handle.

I’ve been using electrical tape for 4 seasons and I’ve never had residue left on any of my handles.

The secret……put a wrap of tape sticky-side-out on the handle first. Not only does that eliminate any residue, it also precisely holds your reel to the handle so you can put your over-wraps of tape on. Just go over the exposed sticky tape with your overwraps.

I usually do 1 complete underwrap and 2-2.5 overwraps. My reels hold all season and my handles stay residue free.

    Painters tape protects it too.

Try Clam’s Reel Tape. It’s my second year using it and I am happy with it.

Clam reel tape is just an expensively marketed silicon tape which can be bought at Menards, Fleetfarm, etc. for much cheaper. And contrary to the above post, silicon tape does not leave a residue. It only sticks to itself. Wraps it as tight as you can manually wrap it yourself. Works great!

I take a battery powered impact gun and take the wheels off, the tongue off. I also put the pins inside of the fishhouse. I want to make them work for it if they want to steal the whole house. Inside I have a game camera, but I’m looking for some type of camera that will send pictures to my phone. It seems I will have to get a sims card to get what I want and to make it work. Anyone else have any ideas?
