Redrilling Holes In Wheelhouse

When you redrill holes in the house how do you deal with the slush or ice chips that come out of the hole, or do you guys move it and drill new ones? A buddy used a short storage bin and scooped them into that, just wondering if there is a better system? TIA

Google slush bucket. Similar idea to what your friend is using.

    I don’t have a wheelhouse, but if I did…I’d use this.

As others stated the slush bucket works. Another option is the slush copter, attach it to your drill and it blows the slush down. One came with our last IC, it works really good also.

With the new electric augers with reverse just run it in reverse after the hole is drilled and send the slush down under the ice.

If you do that doesnt the slush just keep coming up all day with every fish you catch.

I have not had an issue with slush coming back up the hole.

Think it freezes to the bottom on the ice, but could be wrong.

Does anyone have experience with the fish hole buddy slush bucket and the catch cover one? Is the catch cover bucket worth the extra $35 compared to fish hole buddy?

$75 seems a little steep for a plastic bucket with a hole in it but I want something durable that won’t crack in the cold weather.

Fish buddy and catch cover are 2 different sizes that fit in the lip of each mfgr. Im not sure if the 3rd mfgr [ rubbermaid maybe) works well or not.
I have catch cover brand and it is very durable. I flip it over and drop it to get the slush out.

So they fit that tight in the holes? I guess I was thinking they would have some play in there and would be universal. Guess I’ll have to go with the catch cover brand then since that’s what my covers are. Thanks for the info

Slush Copter is the way to go. Augers do go in reverse but nothing compared to Slush Copter.

I have a slush bucket and slush does go into it but a lot still comes unto your floor. Added a piece of vinyl base to the bottom and that got a lot more into bucket. Going to add something that is a little taller so it should all go into it then. There’s a gap from bottom of bucket to the ice so all that fills up before it goes in bucket.

X2. Amazing. By the way the slush just melts after you flush it down.

Every person I’ve showed has had the same response… “are you kidding me it would have taken me a half an hour or more to clean those holes out. You did it in a couple minutes!”

So…I was curious about this product, and I’m still curious?

I will say outright I don’t have a W/H so I’m not in the market but I do like to learn more about ice fishing innovations nonetheless.

When drilling a hole, outside or inside a W/H…the auger pulls the shavings and slush and mounds it up around the hole. Once you clear the bottom of the hole, with the auger still revved you bring it back up thus clearing the hole of most of the slush.

In the two videos I watched of the slush copter, there was no slush/shavings anywhere outside the hole…in fact the videos showed a dry floor. It seems there’s a step missing in what I’m seeing on the videos.

Are they just kicking the slush back down in the hole?

    Anyone care to enlighten me?

Pretty much. When in the wheelhouse I use my boots and kick the slush down the hole. Then use the copter to flush it all away. No scooping slush at all.

As far as outside. I just drill the hole and kick the slush and clean out the hole with auger. No need for the copter outside what so ever in my opinion.

In the wheel house to keep floor clean/dry I use a 6gallon pail with the bottom cut out. Just set the pail in hole before you start drilling. Helps keep the slush contained to the hole. It was always a big problem with the old 3hp jiffy. Spins to fast.
