So far with the cat’s I’ve caught, I’ve been able to lip them into the boat.
But, it’s that time – with a full year of catten coming up, I need a net.

Please help me out with a few questions.
I’ll be using this for Flats mostly.

Do I NEED to spend $50 on a net?
Another catman told me the smaller mess net…like what’s used for salmon would work best. Not the rubber nets.
What are you guys using and do you like it?

    Thanks!

    Hi Braink,
I have not been ignoring this question. I just haven’t taken the time to go look at the brand name of the net I use. I did pay about $75 for it on sale.
You definitely need a heavy duty handle with a large diameter net preferably with a fine mesh so you will hurt those poor little kitty’s so you can release all them to fight again someday.

I figured after Gator and I razed you…I would be catfish bait when I got up there!

I know you guide…and $75 (on Sale ! ) I just thought someone out there has a net that fit those discriptors without empting the wallet. I guess when I think of the $7 -$12 nets and what you get…then look at a $50 net….I see the value…BUT IT’S JUST A NET! and shouldn’t cost more than my rod!!

Suck it up Briank…someday you’ll be happy you bought a #$%$^#$^ expensive net… I’ll need to check my insurance for theft/net coverge….

Check out Fleet Farm. I bought my current one there for about $30. I’ve pulled in plenty of big cats with it with no problems. It has about a 30″ hoop. Plenty big.

Thanks GH, I’ve been looking at Fleet…maybe with the spring stuff starting to be displayed, I’ll find one there.

It is always best to invest in quality equipment, just think of it as a measly 12 crankbaits that you would buy if you were trying to catch them green fish.

Make sure you get it big enough to net these monster cats

Yeah Brian, don’t be such a cheapskate. Spend some of that moldy money you have lying around. LOL

Just got back from picking up my daughter at the hospital from surgury with a quick stop at Fleet Farm.
Got my net for $33. bucks and now am looking to replace the sack with smaller mesh.

    Thanks!

GH…my wife has access to the money…no mold there!
