Anyone familiar with this trail that can tell me the difficulty level?

We are heading up this weekend with another couple and wanted to do some riding. My wife is not big into anything difficult/technical, so I wanted to be sure I am not getting everyone into more than they can chew!

Any other trail systems in the area worth hitting for novice riders?

I have been there may times. This one is easy going. The traffic it receives can be unnerving at times.

If you’re up for a little drive head over an hour to Pine City and hit the Chengwatana trail system. Some slightly challenging trails but there are a couple nice easy loops that have some really nice scenery.

I was hoping to stay in the Mille Lacs area since we will be staying at our trailer near Malmo.

Would the Solana State Forest be any better than the Red Top?

I don’t mind trailering a little ways, but not sure the group will want to drive an hour to get somewhere (I will bring it up with them though).

Well, it looks like these areas are closed due to the rain. Are there any other trail systems closer to Mille Lacs that would not be on the DNR site? Otherwise, we may drive to Pine City or the Stureon lake area.

Pine Center has a nice loop & spurs. Would keep you going for 1/2 day. Drive across the north end of Mille Lacs and go south on 169. As soon as you get to Wigwam Bay take a right on the tar just past the creek bridge. The trail parking is on that road before you get to Pine Center.
