Hello, I am a new user here on these forums, and I had a question about Red Lake walleyes.

Im heading up to Upper Red this weekend out of JRs corner, and I was just gonna ask you guys where you have been having some luck around the lake? Never fished the lake before but from what the reports say, it sounds like you have to get out past everyone. Anyone have some luck at specific depths/ small breaks?

Any tips or info is greatly appreciated!!

The lake is just one big shallow bowl. The walleye roam everywhere. Find a spot away from everyone and any kind of traffic. By now the few structure type spots are covered with houses and a waste of time IMO. My best piece of advice is finding a pressure ridge and setting up next to it. The fish will tend to use them as a highway.

This is good advice as well as finding areas on the main lake where the wind broke up and piled ice before freezing permanently.

x3. Going out of JR’s I would take the road out to Center Bar (there will be hundreds of sleepers on and around it), and keep driving right up to, but not over, the Res line and setup. Or go north or south of all the houses a 1/4 mile until you are all by yourself, setup and wait. IMO this is one of the few lakes that doesn’t reward chasing the fish. They just roam, so every 1/2 hour or hour they will come thru and you will get a few bites right in a row. Rinse repeat.
