Has anyone been out?
Bite has been consistent from the couple buddies I know up there. I’m headed up tomorrow for a week and will give a live update
I will be up there tomorrow as well and can also post a report.
Like all fishing reports on a big lake they are inconsistent IMO. Just like it is every early ice. Some guys are getting them others are not.
some places are letting wheelers out. i am sure the ice is inconsistent the further out you go. is there really a bad day on UPRL? a bad day there is likely a good day on any other lake. that lake spoiled me for life, glad to see not much has changed based on the reports i see.
If you fish Red early in the week this time of year is the lake traffic a lot less? I’d like to give Red a try.
Was there on Monday.Fished from 8-3:30,I drilled 2 holes that ended up being in 9ft.Didnt keep track but caught at least 25 walleyes, couple pike and maybe a half dozen perch, missed quite a few bites as well.Have had better days on Red but no complaints.Yes go early in the week if you can,Mon-Wed Thursdays start to get busier.
Glad to hear you did ok Matt. Where did you go out of and how was the ice? Heading up Saturday.
Rogers.Ice was good, pretty rough specially closer to shore.Saw alot of sand frozen in ice also.Didnt measure but 5-6inches thick Id say.
It’s red lake. Early ice. It’s harder not to catch fish then it is to catch them

You already on them or heading up later?

Where you going out of? I’m heading up to JRs as soon as the kids are out of school today! Stop and have a beer if you see us!

bad boy.
OSHA approved scaffolding I see.
Man leaving at 2 in the morning and fishing all day would kill this feller.
Thats the Osha standard. Only thing it’s missing is the busch light on my “plank”

I used to always leave at 2-3am so the kids would sleep all the way up. Now that they are older they don’t sleep anymore. But their babbling and me playing referee between them fighting keeps me awake 😂.
Buddy was up Thursday and tough fishing. He is there till Sunday so will have more reports

Where’s he out of? My buddies were up yesterday and sent me pics they limited out before 10 am and then caught fish all day.
Not fast and furious and a good amount of overs. Seems to have slowed after the first hour and half.
How much ice is up there right now? I imagine they will start letting wheelers out soon
I’ve got a buddy up there who said he is on 7″ today. He said the bite has been decent, but not absurdly great.
The Sunday snow will be interesting. If it’s only a couple inches and the forecast is overhyped (or it comes and a lot blows off as it falls) things could look really good a week from now with the cold coming adding ice fast. If the area gets the full brunt of 6-8″ of snow, there’s going to be crappy spots of ice for a long time.
This bite was good yesterday. Started my trip with a big fish. Didn’t measure but mid 20s

8-9” everywhere I have been. Wheelers roaming are everywhere. Least amount of ice I have heard of was 5”.
