Red is going to continue to get pounded. The weather outlook doesn’t support a ton of ice formation in places that don’t currently have any. Mille Lacs may not be an option for a long time.

What do you do when all the bars are closed down?
You go ice fishing of course. No problem walking out, fish the first crack you come upon.

Come on man, post some pics for us guys wishing we were there.I’m sure he would EPG, but the bars are all closed down now.
Dang!
I was hoping to get some pics of the Bartenders at Westwind.November 27, 2020 at 5:52 pm #1991975A few years ago there was a looker working the bar in Outing, EPG. Back when it was The Narrows. Heck, I remember when it was a one story shack called The Bridge.

How’s the clarity is that something that would be fun to use or is it better off left at home? I’ve never fished red before so sorry about the newbie question.

To each their own, but I wouldn’t bother with it on Red.

Red is always pretty stained water, and seeing as how its been windy up there, I wouldn’t expect that to pay off. I brought mine a few times and could see about a foot. Later in winter when the water settles some, and when you don’t have to walk, maybe worth it.

Give Mille Lacs a shot. You’ll get good images in that clear water. Red is a waste of time for a camera, and to a lesser extent, so is LOW.
AlwaysFishing23Posts: 91November 27, 2020 at 9:35 pm #1992022Thanks guys! Sounds like I’m better off leaving it at home. I’ve got a few crystal clear lakes in mind to try it on. But first we need cold temps as there larger deeper lakes!

No atvs walk out only. The lake is very busy 150 people out of Rodgers I bet. 7 inches of ice solid out to 10 ft . You could listen to bucky it sounds like he already knows it all about the area, but for being up here its pretty good conditions
tbro16InactiveSt PaulPosts: 1170November 28, 2020 at 1:51 am #1992041Friend of a friend accessed the lake via public landing on thanksgiving morning. They had caught 10 eyes 19-22″ before noon in 10 ft. Never heard anything more. Despite that report, I think I’m still going to be going out of Rogers’ access. Figure its a little safer that way, especially alone!

I was wondering how it went for you yesterday, then I saw posts coming through on FB yesterday afternoon with reports of many getting out so I figured you probably got out as well.
Pretty much same as what you’re reporting, lot’s of folks out particularly Rogers and that some fish caught but not non stop catching 50-100 fish for the day.
Curious what kind of reports come through today.
FWIW, I see 3-4 boats out in Garrison Bay this morning and standing in the warm sun on my deck I imagine it’s a beautiful day to be out there in a boat.

Figured there would be people out there today
Matt WastePosts: 67November 28, 2020 at 2:02 pm #1992133Yesterday not a bite. Today, 26 and counting. I’ve resorted to using tails.
November 29, 2020 at 7:04 am #1992224Same story yesterday. We woke up late went out at about 10. Caught a ton of fish immediately and then moved 6 or 7 times. Every one was deep so we shifted shallow. 7 to 8 ft fishing by the crack and continued to do awesome.
The wind is wild this morning so we are headed to a smaller crappie lake down the roadRod BentPosts: 360November 29, 2020 at 8:20 am #1992234Question for Bearcat and guys who’ve been catching fish. What are they biting on, anything new, colors that stand out? I’m heading up there in 2 weeks. Any info appreciated! Thanks.

November 29, 2020 at 10:04 am #1992288Dead sticks and bobber rods with bigger chubs has been our ticket. Aggressive jig has been hard.
Gotten fish on everything so far but dead stick is number 1.November 29, 2020 at 10:05 am #1992289Or ask bucky what he thinks. Because he will tell you on his experience
November 29, 2020 at 11:02 am #1992317those fish bite anything there. red on red or if you go with a float, then grab some of those glow demons. @bearcat89 seen any of the elusive crappies yet?

We have no crappies yet. But the last 3 trips we have caught a handful each time
November 29, 2020 at 12:01 pm #1992343I guess I lied. We have 2 limits of crappies. But a different lake. 20 miles off red
Matt WastePosts: 67November 29, 2020 at 12:21 pm #1992355Pink and gold flash spoons. Shiners. Only 2 of my fish came on dead stick. Ended up at 30 even. Fished the same hole all day. Bear, I left this morning, woke up to a 3’ snowdrift against my wheeler. Wind was a howling

Wind is brutal today. We fell back to black duck which was producing small panfish. Shifter a few miles and now are on a great bite.
