Derek,
Check out the red lake thread on page 2. I am headed to red lake the last weekend in January and plan to start where I left off (glow pink/red).
Was on Red the entire weekend from 01/14 to 01/17… Fishing was great the first two days til the cold front came through and it slowed down dramatically. Granted we still caught fish during the cold front, it just took a little more work. The first two days they were pounding crappie minnows on a bare red hook. The cold front days they were biting silver/red #2 swedish pimple with a minnow head and used very subtle movement to get them to bite.. when they bit it was very soft.. We fish out of Rogers..
692 makes a good point. Red Lake is not a very deep lake and because of this, areas with lots of people or high traffic will definitely scare fish away. Don’t forget how well ice and water transmit sounds when ice fishing in shallow (<15ft) water.
Heading up Friday morning again. Some buddies up last weekend did very good. Red Buck shots in 8-9.5 feet of water and jigging raps. This last weekend the deadsticks did out fish jigging shiners on red plain hook. Hoping the bite holds going to move around this weekend check out some different spots just to do something different.
Heading that way on wednesday the fishing will be great I hope the catching is awesome. Thanks to everyone posting tips and reports appreciate them all. Keep those reports coming.
