I can’t believe some would think this is a good idea. I smoked pot in high school and I can tell you no good comes from doing drugs. These people in government that think it’s a good idea are just plain stupid. I hope it doesn’t pass. People are distracted enough behind the wheel the way it is. More kids will start trying it and I bet underage smoking will start sky rocketing too. Just plain dumb.

Underage smoking of cigarettes is not skyrocketing but this ridiculous ass vaping is everywhere and it is an epidemic for youth.
I personally see a lot of benefits to legalization for the state and its citizens and no I do not partake in the festivities.
I do see how it may worry many also but if alcohol is legal then people should be able to profit off the greenery as well. Plus its just not all smoking. The market is a lot more then that. I just think alcohol is much more responsible for catastrophe then THC will ever be.

I think it’s easy enough for kids to get drugs up here the way it is, they don’t need any help to make it easier. My relatives in Colorado said when it passed there every building that wasn’t being used for something is now growing dope.

I could see more work place injuries for adults as well that would not go to work drunk but might think it’ll be fine to take a couple hits on the way to work maybe at lunch and oops I pushed the wrong lever and now Jimmy just got crushed.

As a former teenager I can honestly say that acquiring cigarettes, alcohol or marijuana was easily accomplished, much as it is now I would assume.
I don’t think controled legalized sales makes marijuna easier to access.

I’ve been to Colorado and California and honestly don’t see any problems. Kids will get it regardless I know it wasn’t that hard 25 years ago.

Now that I have kids, I do worry about the accessibility. But, I think I’d rather collect tax money from it than try to fight it and lose.

prohibition doesn’t work. But keep fighting the same way as the last 40 years and expect a different outcome.

I think its funny that knowing everything I did as a youth and how it affected me and my family, and now it looks like I’m in the minority of people that think it’s a bad idea . I’ll shut up now and enjoy the weather ☺

Many many many people already smoke pot, I know a lot of people who both smoke pot and dont smoke pot. I dont personally see any issue with it. As far as work place injuries, drug test will still be the same through employers. May be legal in the state but federally still illegal. Companies still ban the use and can enforce that. My wife’s mom has a house in Colorado and we go back and forth alot. It’s not some crazy drug town. I’m more worried about these “kids” getting drunk and doing dumb stuff.

Sad part is if they ever legalized Pot I would never drink another beer, but I would probably weight 300# from my 170# now.

I find it funny that not too long ago they vote illegal for the sick and dying to smoke pot and now they want to legalize it for all.

That at the same time they made marijuana really hard for the really sick to get/expesive, while doctors were able to prescribe Oxycontin (basically heroine) like it was no big deal.

I don’t care one way or the other but the sick and dieing should be able to do what is medically need even if it goes against what law enforcement lobbies for.

Kids will start trying it? Kids have been smoking pot for DECADES. Pot isn’t anything new. Just because it’s legal doesn’t mean there’s going to be a sudden influx of crime. Is the speedometer in your car that goes to 120 responsible for your speeding tickets? Didn’t think so. Alcohol is legal and plenty of kids get shitfaced hammered drunk every weekend. Never see anyone voice concerns about that. But you know, “drink responsibly”……

Just because you did dumb stuff when you were stoned doesn’t make that the rule. Cannabis helps so many people in so many ways. I’m in Michigan and it was just legalized for recreational use. Instead of eating Xanax all day because it’s “legal”, now I don’t have to worry about my kids being taken away for smoking a joint because I don’t want to destroy myself with prescription drugs. And why should I? Because someone in a suit said it’s “legal” so I won’t go to prison for it? Screw that noise.

Cannabis, for me, is a great mood stabilizer and anti-depressant that doesn’t make me want to blow my head off because the “safe, legal, fda approved medicine” has worse proven side affects than the originating condition. The only side affect of pot is laughter, hunger, and sleep. Prescription drugs are much much worse than any amount of pot. I’d rather see alcohol illegal. Now, I get to grow my own medicine without fear of incarceration.

Being arrested for pot. That’s what’s stupid. Fun fact, our body is actually equipped to specifically process cannabinoids. Our bodies anticipate its ingestion.

Pot is not evil. Pot is not the devil. Pot won’t destroy your family or even turn you gay. Pot isn’t heroin, cocain, or some concoction made from canisters of chemicals found under your kitchen sink. Clipping your nails is more dangerous than consuming pot. Seriously, especially if you’re a diabetic.

Another fun fact, I’m smoking a bowl as I type this. Nothing more liberating than legal weed. Smoke em’ if ya got em’.

So it resulted in economic stimulation? My God, the humanity!!

    Very true
Why send the money to the criminals.
If Minnesota doesn’t do this soon we will just lose more money to the states that jumped in first.

I agree with Ryan on the benefits of it, besides getting high. CBD is an anti inflammatory that is extracted for hemp and pot. It does not get you high. I had a full hip replacement at 37 because of arthritis, the other one was killing me. No prescription drugs/OTC could take away the pain. Started taking CBD, hip feels great

Don’t be ashamed of your position on it. It is very destructive for developing brains, much like alcohol.

    BUT
It has no negative long term effects on fully developed brains. It is impossible to overdose. The medical benefits that are being suppressed by big pharma and prohibition are unimaginable. Epilepsy is now an accepted condition that is being treated. Hypertension, pain, anxiety, depression among many others all have solid evidence of benefiting from cannabinols.

You also need to look back to find out why it was originally made illegal. It’s time to right a big wrong in our society.

In between on this one. Don’t want to see pot shops on every corner. Don’t want to see anyone go to jail for smoking/possession either.

First step, Decriminalize. let all of the people locked up for pot crimes out of jail. Clear out their record.

Then just a government hands off policy. Let adults make adult decisions on what they want to do.

I do find it interesting that the first order of business is to legalize pot. Seems there are more important things to work on….

kind of like pharmacies, bars and liquor stores? There are dry townships and counties that prohibit the sale of alcohol through ordinances. And the same will and does happen with marijuana.

Then just a government hands off policy.

the government(local or national) hands off a multi billion dollar industry is a “pipe” dream.

I do see the medical benefits I guess I just need to convince my self it’s not bad . When my dad caught me with a pipe and kicked me out of the house for doing drugs it kind of leaves an impression on you . Not trying to start a war just seen it on the news tonight and rubbed me the wrong way .

Gino, the best thing you can do is educate yourself. Our parents taught us some good values but not all need to be taken at face value.

There are drugs that are very very harmful and addictive. There are some that are illegal that aren’t harmful or addictive. There’s a definite difference but unfortunately the government doesn’t see it that way. Except for alcohol for some reason.

The state can’t decriminalize when the feds still count it as illegal
