Record will be broken

Using data that the dnr has been compiling since 1978, the latest ice in date on lake minnetonka is Jan 2nd. This happened in 2002. The median ice in date is December 8th. Looking at the forecast we will not only break that record but we may break it by as much as a week or more. Any fishable ice we had on smaller bays is gone after this rain and the big bays have been wide open all year.

Strange year and pretty disappointing for those of us who enjoy a traditional Minnesota winter. Thankfully I scraped the itch on red lake last weekend but it sure would be nice to see some snow

I got quite a bit of rain here too. Put my gauge away in October but I am guessing over an inch, with more coming.

Would be well over a foot of snow if it was colder. Saw they had to cancel a dog sled race on the north shore due to lack of snow and warm temps.

I think it has rained for 4 days in a row here in my area. If I had to guess on rain totals I’d say several inches at least. I guess we should be glad it was rain and not snow. This would have been a TON of Snow.

Rain totals are the highest in the area just northwest of the Twin Cities. Monticello, Big Lake, Otsego, Rogers, and Elk River have all reported over 3 inches of rain since Saturday. Areas just to the northwest near the St Cloud area have a wide swatch of 2.5 – 3 inches of rain.

I received 2.65 inches in the west metro. MSP reported 1.6 inches.

Quite an odd weather report for Christmas. Rain totals instead of snow totals. ???

Im northwest of St Cloud by aways. We had 3.25 inches at noon today. A few lakes are now wide open again. Some had wheelers on them just on Friday.
Boxelder bugs came back out too.

    Unreal.

And as far as white christmas, I’m one who wishes for it but yeah that would have been a ton of snow and that gets annoying too. I still might have gladly taken it over the green/brown and rain, though.
