Record White Sturgeon

These white sturgeon are just mythic beasts, that seem like they should be from Game of Thrones or something!

I think Darren’s 78 inch sturgeon is the biggest in MN in modern times, and the DNR lists a 180 inch sturgeon caught in 1903 among our Lake Sturgeon. It will be interesting to see how big they can get in MN, but doubt we see anything close to the white sturgeon in my lifetime.

The gear hanging out the back of the boat doesn’t look likes it’s capable of hauling in a 1000lb fish.

We don’t have White Sturgeon here, do we? Just Lake Sturgeon. I think the White Sturgeon are a Pacific Coast fish that migrates in and out of the ocean into fresh and saltwater.

I’ve seen an episode of River Monsters where Jermey Wade targets the White Sturgeon on the Columbia River.

We have Lake and Shovelnose Sturgeon. Shovels are much smaller.
