    Hi all!
I’m looking for any recommendations from the group concerning polarized sunglasses. I need a new pair. I’m looking for a set that won’t break the bank (~ $80-$150) but are also tough and sturdy. I also need bifocals; getting up there in age…
What brand do all of you use? Any recommended places to purchase?
I’ll be heading to the tropics in a few weeks and don’t want to subject my eyes to the unrelenting sun with the cheap ones I have now.
    Thanks,
    Don

I bought a pair of DVX sunglasses made by wiley x they were 78 bucks and are polarized and rated for ansi safety. I love them out on the ice and will love them in the boat. Come with case and cloth. Got mine at Walmart in vision center

Go to steep and cheap, and look for the deals section. I got a set of Native polarized sunglasses listed at $150.00 , for $35.00. They have some really good deals there.

If you also need bifocals, the only good pair I have found are Maui Jim Readers. The were around $200 the last I bought a pair, but are durable and being able to read/tie knots while outdoors without switching glasses is worth something.

+1 on tmorgz recommendation for the Maui Jim readers if you need a bifocal, but do not have any distance correction. We sell quite a few of them in our store, and customers have been very happy with them. They are a little more expensive, but the lenses are very nice for fishing, and Maui Jim is a great brand overall with incredible customer service. Feel free to PM me if you have any more in depth questions.

I can only recommend the brand that has served me well for over 15 years. Smith Optics. Currently I have their Chief Techlite Polarchromic Ignitor’s and they are the best I have ever had. So far I am at 1.5 years on these and I wear them every day driving and fishing. Smith’s are popular out west where you will find them the choice for many fisherman including all the guides I ran into in Utah.

    This is a record folks.

The correct answer is Costa Del Mar glass.

I’m with you there. But at $80-150 that will be tough. If it were me I’d spend the extra money and get the Best.

Do any of the Costa’s fit over regular glasses – like Cocoons do only not as dorky looking?
