Recommendation Needed: Pflueger Spinning Reel Size

Hello everyone,

I’m going to buy a Pflueger President fishing reel to get myself through the winter in the Northeast USA – Pennsylvania. I’m a largemouth bass fisherman, but with the winter coming, I’m going to start fishing for crappie, trout, etc. and other smaller fish, to get through the winter.

I don’t know what size Pflueger President fishing reel to get (20, 25?) I’ll be using 2-4 lb. mono with an ultra-light ugly stik (2-6 lb. SIGMA).

I run 25 on all my ice rods in sodak…check out the pflueger monarch as well pretty decent reel for the money and has a longer stem so it’s easier to use with gloves

I suggest going with the smallest. Light weight for finesse fishing, and they’ll handle everything you mentioned

Do you have any recommendations for bait? I’ve got small mepps spinners, and hooks for eggs, worms, etc. But, any recommendations for small lures, jigs, baits, etc. to catch the crappie, bluegills, etc.? Thanks!

25 size will do you right for expanding into the other species you mentioned! Good luck!

Personally imo the monarch is a POS. Ran it two seasons now. If I wasn’t a cheap a$$ I’d buy a different one.

Make sure to try out the small small reels first, my knuckles hit the bail while reeling the way I hold my rod. Everyone is different but do watch out tfor that

The 25 size will suit better.

Both 20 and 25 share some parts.
