Recommendation for new stove

My oven is broken for the 4th time in 2 years. I have a service plan on it but I’m sick of calling them. I may end up replacing. My wife works for best buy so we can get a good deal in all likelihood.

What brands are reliable? What features are must haves or cool to have?

I think if we replace I’ll go with a double oven

We just bought all whirlpool appliances. Our gas range has been sweet. Big upgrade from our old one. Preheats to broil in a minute and the burners are pretty fierce.

I second Whirlpool. Had those appliances at my previous house and they were solid.

I prefer gas. Do they make gas convection ovens?

I’ve worked on a few commercial ones so I’m assuming they make household ones

Some friends are looking at high end ranges like Viking, They say most salespeople are recommending a gas cooktop with an electric convection oven.

Buddy of mine and his brother run a small appliance store chain up by us. Have a new GE gas stove coming tomorrow on his recommendation.

I am curious what problems you have had? 4 items going bad sounds not normal. I can see the igniter going out as that is the most common problem with the stove part.

Can’t say I have any brand recommendations, but a double oven is awesome for entertaining/holidays. If you want I can check what we have, it’s worked for 3+ years for us! toast rotflol

I’m a fan of cooktops in an island seperate from a wall oven (if feasible).

Our wall oven is a Samsung, and our cook top is a GE induction one. I’d not hesitate to recommend either. The Mrs. wanted all the fancy bells on the oven, so she can control it from her phone when baking/wine drinking/hosting

Same here. We purchased a gas Whirlpool in 2019. Double oven, 4 standard top burners and a center plate burner. My FW loves it!

Only issue so far was the ignitors. Last year our upper oven ignitor went out and about a month later the lower oven ignitor went out. Was super easy to replace though. I ordered the parts from Dey Electric here in the cities and had them swapped out in 30 min.

Current Oven is a KitchenAid. Our ignitor has gone out 4 times in the last year alone. Fixed it 5 weeks ago and its out already. its a 20 year old oven so sick of dealing with it and looking to replace but interesting to hear your Whirlpool has had issues with the ignitors too. Im sure its a common failure point in all ovens…

Dont blame you one bit about wanting to move on Crappie! I had issues with our dryer and after fixing it 3 times when it broke again I said thats enough and just replaced it.

True, but every brand has their own construction specs.

KE uses WPW parts for everything. Here’s the igniter for their most common gas range. It’s used in KE, WPW, MTG, JE, etc.

I thought you’d be going electric to save the planet and go along with the green new deal?

20 years old? Ya time to upgrade. Stick with the same brand if you got 20 years out of it.
