I’ll be spending January in Naples/Marco Is area. Do you all have any recommendations for fishing guides we could go with for a day? I’m thinking I’d rather fish the mangroves/10,000 islands than the big water. Thanks!

Fish with Ken. He likes to fish the Mangroves and put us on some very nice fish.

January might be a bit of a tough month but those guys will be honest about what’s going at that time.

I don’t know Naples guides but January can be a bit tough. The colder water turns the fish off a bit but your strategy of fishing inshore is a better bet. The offshore bite can be really tough.

My guess is you’ll be chasing trout, jacks, snapper, snook, and maybe redfish that time of year. So, worst case you get a really good meal.

I’d also pack a rod if you can. I usually bring a medium weight spinning setup and buy Gulp shrimp. The shore fishing around bridges and piers can be really good.

    Good luck!

For what it’s worth I went surf fishing in Indian rocks beach last winter around February and had a dang good time . I just packed a reel spooled up and some basic tackle and bought a rod down there . Caught 4/5 species of fish but nothing over 15 inches . Still beats just walking on the beach in the morning for me .
