Looking for an all around good truck med kit for hunting, ice fishing, and to transfer to boat in the summer. I have 4 boys and somethimg always will or can happen! I did a quick search on Amazon but not impressed with some gauze, bandaid, aspirin, scissors, and rubber gloves for 40$. Anyone have an all bases covered kit they can recommend $50-100?? Thanks all

Can’t you make one on your own? Bandaids, gauze, medical tape, cotton balls, neosporen, q tips should be the basics. Get a plastic case like you put your lures in and should be good to go.

TMS Oudoors if you want a quality pack with blood. Clotting and tourniquet

It’s one of those things you hope you never have to use. We go deep remote areas in the mountains and know any response times could be days, not minutes.

We have over the years added a few things to our TMS packs. But that’s been minimal. Fortunately our worst accident has been a atv roll down a mountain side. Compound bones and a few deep cuts. The TMS packs have been complete with nearly everything we need. Same packs carried by military

I would start with brainstorming some of the worst things that could happen and back-plan from there.

If it’s hunting, we’re talking gunshot wounds or a broken bone deep in the woods. So I’d have all the gunshot wound material for field dressing a wound, and I would have tourniquet options as deertracker recommended. I splint could be fashioned out of branches but you’d need something to wrap a limb in (ace bandage or something).

Ice or open water fishing will encounter some similar and some different injuries. Throw a couple hand warmers/heat packs in there too.

My kits are basically identical to what Bearcat posted, and then I added super glue, a couple suture kits, and a water proof lighter. Thankfully it hasn’t been needed outside of the glue I used to seal up a cut on the dog after he ran into a old barbed wire fence in the woods.

Good call. I also carry super glue in all my kits. And have used it more then once.

If you are going to include a tourniquet. Do a little research on when and how to use. Using when it’s not necessary can do severe damage. That’s getting into a level above basic first aid. But could save a life properly used. But when direct pressure won’t get it.

Eye wash for sunscreen in eyes or wood chip/ plant seeds. Get some of the self adhering vetrap it’s great for quick bandages but don’t over tighten cause it can cut down on circulation if you tighten too much. I am sure fleet farm carries in pet department.

I’m not sure why my reply is not posting to this post. I have tried it twice. Its shows up under my personal history but has not posted to the post. Maybe I got in trouble and got a time out. Didn’t think I have even posted anything lately that would have caused that.

At any rate. I would look at the zipstitch product. They are great to add to a first aid kit.
