Its really sad to see that your not even safe while attending church service these days. After watching footage of the church shooting in Texas I have to feel the death toll would have been so much worse had armed church members / Security Guards had not acted as quickly as they had to stop the gunman. I was surprised that there was armed security Guards even in place at a church service. Then again this is Texas we are talking about. In addition to the know armed guards, I read that there was at least 4 or 5 other church members who drew their guns when the shooting started. With the slanted media we have, this shooting hardly even made most evening news and the coverage was rather limited. Had the death toll been greater and armed citizens not shot the gunman we would have seen 10X the media coverage on this event.

Now you are spinning the NRA slant. There is media coverage all over this.

I don’t think so. I saw way less coverage on this shooting than I saw on most of the others.
As far as a NRA slant – Not a member and not a real big fan of them overall !!!December 30, 2019 at 11:30 am #1901659How much did you see on the stabbing and small plain crash?
Maybe you aren’t watching the news enough?
December 30, 2019 at 11:37 am #1901663The more good guys packing, the better. And I think this is an accurate statement.

Yep. The bad guy was dressed in black and the good guys in white so there is never any doubt when the guns come out.

I believe it’s 3 people for each service; 1 at the main entrance, and two positioned within the service. If there’s 200 attendees at the service, I’d venture to guess that 5-10% of us are armed as well.

That’s great to hear – I guess that armed security at churches is more common than I would have thought
December 30, 2019 at 1:12 pm #1901690How do I join that Dutchboy fan club? and what are my Tee shirt and bumper sticker options
December 30, 2019 at 1:26 pm #1901697Well you asked the question regarding media coverage, I answered it. I wondered how you missed the coverage since it was, and is quite extensive. My first thought was you just wanted to get a gun debate going and were looking to stir the pot. Might still be the case. If so, keep plinking away, lots a guys here will talk guns all day with ya.
Anyway, the fan boy club easy a easy join. Contract BK and he will get you taken care of. Unfortunately the charter spots are filled but he will find something for you.
December 30, 2019 at 1:37 pm #1901701Regarding the reporting. Can’t seem to find anyone questioning the motive? Was he known to the church? Random killer? Other?

December 30, 2019 at 1:41 pm #1901705Only thing I heard on the news was he was a town local. I don’t know if he is a member of the church or ever attended there.

I didn’t ask a question regarding the media coverage – I Just made a statement that I did not believe the media coverage was near that of other shootings in the past.
As far as a gun debate goes – No debate needed. Neither side is going to change their mind on the subject.
I’ll contact BK on the fanclub membership to keep me posted on any openings. Some of the Tee shirt and bumper stickers options looked good – just wondered if I got to take my pick

That’s because the story people want to hear is that guns are allowed in church in Texas.
December 30, 2019 at 1:56 pm #1901711I’m leaning toward Fishthumper on this.
I haven’t seen anything on tv. Granted I don’t watch much tv but I would of thought a church shooting would of made it to me somehow (other than facebook).
I’ve heard squat about the shooter and in many ways I’m good with that although I sure would like to know what he was thinking (not that it will make any sense to any of us).
I’m sorry that two people had their lives shortened over this and I’m very glad the hero’s bullet traveled true. (that looked like a long shot!)

December 30, 2019 at 3:25 pm #1901753Along with mental issues I think most of these people are just a nobody all their lives and they see this a chance at their 15 seconds of fame.
Thats why I have always said it should be illegal to publicize their name or photos.
Shoot ’em, dig a hole and move on.

See Dutchboy – I knew we could agree on something – Have a safe and great New years !!!!

While I don’t think ten minutes of fame is always the motive, I really believe this should be enforced. Don’t even let the thought enter their head. Unfortunately, it never will be because it’s the media’s bread and butter right now.

Brad DimondPosts: 1462December 30, 2019 at 8:26 pm #1901859I disagree about the media shaping the agenda. While they claim to be virtuous soldiers in the fight for truth the reality is that the media publishes what sells. In other words, the media publishes what consumers want. The various media outlets pander to their customer base – Fox to conservatives, CNN to liberals, etc. The sad truth is that every facet of tragedies like this are exploited by medai outlets in different ways – some to those whose take is that the bad guy was taken down by good guys with guns, some to those who lap up the every shooting is a justification for clamping down on firearm ownership cream.
The media is a polarized as the polity and beholden to the almighty $.

I say lots of cameras, possibly make it a pay per view event where some proceeds go to victims families and mental health studies.Bring back the goodies, quartering is good, guillotine is a bit quick IMO, castration would be acceptable before the blade.
