Anyone have any experience with these augers. They have “ice wings” suppose to help or eliminate catching at bottom of hole at break through.

I just bought a Synthetic Ultra 8″. I haven’t been able to cut any ice yet, but I can tell you it is really, really light. And for under $200 it’s way cheaper than a full new auger setup.

I bought a Synthetic Ultra 8″ last year and mounted it to a Clam Plate and my Ridgid drill. Cuts like butter and the “wings” on the bottom allow no kickback when breaking through the bottom of the hole. I moved from the first gen Pistol bit to this and love it. Leaving Wednesday morning for Red to punch some holes.

I did not buy one, but had a chance to play around with one up on Mille Lacs a few years ago, they seemed solid.

Do they leave the hole fairly clean and free of slush? It looks like the flighting is smaller than cutting head.
