    How high above the hole do you mount them? I’ve seen pictures of some mounted approx 3′ above & some about shoulder high.

    I’ve seen them 6′ above. Makes for easy access and you don’t bump into them with your knees. Just your head. doah

    Its all personal preference. I am going to mount mine on the ceiling this year so they are up out of the way. But Im sure I will get caught in the “spiderwebs” then too.

    If they are too close to the hole you run the risk of spooling yourself when you seth the hook. Trust me I know….. coffee

    I like them about head height so they are out of your way. I had some on the ceiling but they are hard to wind up fast that high when you see a warden coming.

    When i’m using my hub house, i attach them to the cealing.

    You need to have them far enough above the hole so your hookset doesn’t spool the rattle reel as someone mentoned above.
