Very few post on Lake Rathbun, would like to see more interest in what the activity is on this lake..I have
fished it during spring and summer with some success on
crappie and walleye, but never tried ice fishing it.All
    information would be appreciated.

Dave, got a report from a friend who fished Ratburn yesterday. Best area was in southfork near where it dumps into the main lake. Hard to get to though unless you have an atv. Most of the state and corps gates are locked up. Thinking about heading over there or Belva Deer sunday.

IN PAST YEARS I’VE FISHED THE STANDING TIMBER IN THE BRIDGEVIEW AREA AND CAUGHT NICE CRAPPIES. YOU MUST BE VERY CAREFUL HERE DUE TO THE CURRENT AND ICE CONDITIONS. THE ACCESS IS EASY,AND IS NEVER CLOSED. ENTER FROM THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE BRIDGE GO WEST TO FIRST RIGHT, WILL TAKE YOU TO THE RAMP.

Visited Rathbun Thursday 1/27 and found most of the areas that
usually hold fish to have spots of open water looked too
unstable to fish on. Drove all around the lake on roads
found only one group fishing by the Honey Creek area.
So then went to West Lake by the Casino and fished about a dozen different holes for couple hours , 1 small bluegill.
Think I will stick to water north of Des Moines….

Dave, did you check the trees area above Bridgeview? I just got an email saying there was anywhere from 8 to 10 inches of ice on the lake yet. That info supposedly came from one of the baitshops.

Yes, and the ice looks good except where the geese have
    kept some spots open.
