Ratchet strap replacement

I plan on replacing all ratchet straps on the 5 ladder stands we have. Just wondering if the larger ones at menards would do the job. I have seen many rated for 500-1000 lbs with a break strength much higher. I have to believe that would do the job. And they are a lot cheaper than what the tree stand company’s sell.

So obviously safety is a concern which is why I am asking the question, but is there a certain type of strap to look for?

Also I would like to replace the stabilization straps that cross behind the tree, Anyone have a recommendation on fabric for those?

I have used similar straps as a replacement. Obviously, the key is never to rely on a single strap or piece of hardware to hold up the stand. I use a minimum of 2 per stand.

Also, what I’ve done is bought a pack of cheap ratcheting straps that I use just to keep the stands in place over the off season. They I go up and replace them with good straps in about September. That saves the wear and tear on the good straps and I don’t have to worry about how sun rotted the straps got every year.

I always put two ratchet straps on my stands now. Menards sells a 4-6 pk of 300 lbs rated straps, so with two you’re getting 600 lbs )
