Rappin Raps (how to use them)

Just watched the Fleet Farm show on Fox North and they were using Rippin Raps for early season walleye. Would this be a cast and jig back to the boat bait. How do you effectually fish this bait for walleyes open water?

    Thanks

I fish the the same way I pitch and jig plastics. Maybe slightly more aggressively. You can also vertical jig them as well.

You don’t need to rip them either. Sometimes a gentle rise, enough for a slight vibration is preferred. It all depends on the body of water or the conditions.

Just buy them and walleye jump in the boat. No need to ever get them wet……

    ……least that’s what I heard.

I catch more fish using them on soft water then hard water. Pretty cool how you can hear them 6 feet under the boat when you rip them. The pike dig them as well so you might get ripped off if you catch my drift.

If your fishing pikey waters, you might try a 20# floro leader, ‘eyes will still eat them, but the pike generally don’t bite through unless you let the leader become chaffed and don’t do anything about it. Will it still happen occasionally, yep, but not very often. If they (eyes) get finicky, go to 10#, but I rarely get really outfished with the 20.
