Rapala R12 Lithium

Just had a chance to use the new rapala r12 and all I can say the knife is amazing. The new version blows the old lithium model out of the park. I was wondering if the price tag was a little high, but after using it I believe it is worth the money. The only con I have is that the biggest blade offered for the knife is only 7.5″. Otherwise I am impressed with the performance of the knife. If anyone is on the bubble, I don’t think you will be disappointed if you buy one.

Have you used the bubba cordless knife? I have not tried either, just curious how they compared.

I have a bubba fixed blade knife that is a good product, but not bubba lithium. I wouldn’t be afraid to buy one though. I also like that they offer more blade options than rapala.

Jason Groll (Guide on LOTW) did a good breakdown on the Bubba vs Rapala Cordless vs the Rapala R12 and maybe a couple others as well. I’m sure you can find online somewhere, but basically the R12 was night and day better than the rest.

I have the bubba lithium, and after using the new Rapala to do a bunch of pike for pickling & smoking, I’m selling the bubba. it’s slow compared to the rapala, and the rapala has a better feel for riding the backbone.

I am really happy with my Bubba lithium, hard to believe that the Rapala could be that much better. I have never cleaned a pike with it and don’t plan to.
