Okay got boat out of storage. I did the inspection and so far this is what I found.

My right front tire is more worn than the other 3. Debated putting on the spare but was wondering who aligns trailers?

Item two was the rear live well pump always works in the time mode but seems I have to go to time mode then to fill to get the fill side to work

Item 3 I turned the key on and water pump jumped to 6 psi static. Put in a call to ALS marine and they recommended new pump. Motor is a 2006 ETEC. I did have 2 warnings last year after a long long idle so really have no problem getting the pump replaced.

The last thing I found is a little different when I put the live well select to recirc. I filled up the wells (garden hose) to rinse them out I let the water sit overnight. The back well drained out in 24 hours. The front is still half full. I thought the recirc was like a complete shut off? Really no biggie but just something I found. Other than that all prep is done. Come on Saturday

Call Terry at Al’s Specialty Marine in Rochester (507-282-5532). I’m pretty confident in saying he’ll have a suggestion for everyone of the issues. That or he’ll tap into the experts back in the shop.

As far as the valves not closing entirely – sand is the culprit. What made this happen less often for me is I get in the habit of “working” the valves a few times every time on the water. Run some water into the wells, let it drain and move the valve handle gently back and forth. Especially at the start of the season. We don’t often use the dead well so rarely is it a problem, Back in the days of derby fishing it was critical that you prevented that problem to avoid dead fish penalties.

    Good luck fishing
