I charged my trolling batteries and went out this week end. Now when I am on charge the “middle” Set of lights stay red. Looking at all the connections one of the batteries was REALLY hot. Do you think this is caused by battery done. Ranger is a 2006 so thinking it is time. I have the battery on a car charger now and it does not appear to getting as hot. I suspect battery but wondering if anyone else had something like this.

    Thanks

Switch banks. Put bank 1 on battery 2 and see if it does the same.

it wasn’t a Ranger boat, but when my last on board charger was going bad it boiled my batteries. I wasn’t sure if my batteries were going out to begin with, but after being on the charger for a couple days, it was sure a surprise to see that both batteries were cooked.

I was reluctant to move the battery because if it was shorted it might cause more problems. But I did and the red lights followed. I also noticed when I took the battery of the car charger is was getting very warm again. thanks
