Has anyone owned a 20′ tiller?

Motor size? Was it big enough for the boat?
Any impressions of the boat you would like to share?
Thank you.

I love everything about the 620T but the price and the fact they quit making them.
Used ones really hold their value! In fact the used prices have steadily been increasing.
I had 620T’s with 115hp tillers and ones with 150hp tillers. I liked em both. The 150hp is harder on gas but goes faster. The dry storage is second to none. I think you could dunk em under water and still have dry gear. It also has great rod storage. I can easily fit 30 rods in the boat. Its also an extremely smooth and dry ride. I fish 4 clients and myself out of the boat regularly. There’s just so much room.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
So I was out fishing today on the st croix (in my 18′ lund explorer tiller) and I think I came to the conclusion my next boat will NOT be a tiller. When it’s windy it’s so hard to keep my boat straight (I troll alot) unless my hand is on the tiller at all times. Also, I can’t keep a constant speed for trolling unless my hand is on the tiller. Lastly, when making long runs (30 min drives) it does wear on you to have the wind in your face and hand on the tiller for so long. Any suggestions? Am I missing something?
I do love the additional amount of space and layout a tiller gives. Does anybody else have a tiller who mainly trolls?
need a assist on bigger tillers no fatigue pricey but worth it. I installed the uflex on 90hp yamaha Vmax
Utilize your bow mount for steering and speed control. Easier with a i pilot or similar.

Part of the issue is the Lund sits so high in the water the wind will blow the front all over the place. It was the same with the wheel Lund ProV aluminum I had. I am pretty sure the Ranger tiller, or Warrior tiller would not be at the mercy of the wind like the Lund is.

I’ve got one. ’09 200hp Verado. Rides nicely for a tiller and has plenty of power. It behaves nicely while fishing in wind.
If you want your outboard to troll down to 1.2mph without bags, a big tiller isnt what you want. It is a great muskie platform, however.
My only real gripes are that i can’t take the rod tubes out and replace with a single large sleeve insert and the goofy anchor storage compartment.
I like the stability when up on the front deck casting much better than a 2090, but don’t get me wrong… those are nice too.

Glass boats don’t blow around…

My 36v bow mount can pull the boat at 3mph easily. I use it for anything under 2.5 miles an hour. Anything over that I used the big motor. There is no gap in boat control.

Dutch, Owned 2 620T’s a 2001 (first year) and a 2008, both with 115 Suzuki’s. Great boat and I loved the versatility of the boat. Could back troll the flats at 1.5, forward troll shad raps at 2.0 mph. In 2014 on Leech Lake opener it was misting as we headed out of the resort. Looking ahead I had a clear route picked, my 2 passengers were facing me and even though the route seemed clear I unknowingly veered to the left, my vision in front of me looked good, I ended up hitting a boat at full throttle, 36 mph, luckily hit the motor, not the boat. After fixing everything in the fall I traded for a wheel boat, maybe I was just getting too old for the tiller. Honestly I still miss the 620T but it is what it is. Fabulous boat in my estimation
Thanks Dave, glad everything turned out ok and nobody was hurt. Visibility is about the only thing I don’t like about the tillers. From what I’m reading the 620T’s are good boats. I think the search is getting narrowed down to the Ranger or Yar-Craft although I was informed of a Warrior I might need to look at.
Dutch if I remember right you had a glass Lund? Was there something you didn’t like with the lund or just wanted a change?

Dutchy had a Skeeter WX2000 before the Lund. He’s just a confused young man,,,,
HRG
Confused I am…………:doah
I have had a 20′ Skeeter & a 20′ Lund. For fiberglass boats I still have to check out Ranger, Warrior, Yar-Craft & Tuffy.
I rarely drink or gamble anymore so I guess boats is my crack these days.
Join the dark side and get a full windshield
Tillers are nice if you need the room (smaller boat), but 20′ tillers are a dying breed.
Dutchy, has NEVER stopped playing the field…. :]
I gotta a story for you next time I see you.
