Raising hitch ball with washers?

If I can find washers the diameter of the base of my 2″ hitch ball would it hurt to raise the ball about 1/4″? My hitch is just low enough that the jack bottoms out before all the weight is on the truck so it is difficult to get the jack up when hooking up and has to be muscled back vertical when unhooking. I’m pulling a Lund Impact 1875. Other draw bars available with higher lift would be too high.

If your receiver has a little drop you can just flip it over. Mine was a 2″ drop and it made a big difference with the boat and snowmobile trailers. I still had enough tongue weight and still level with both trailers.

you didnt mention what you have for a vehicle and my first thought was weak rear suspension, new springs in order maybe??
if that is okay, could you put a shorter jack on it??
a quarter inch of spacing is no big deal if that will take care of it.

Short answer to your question is it will be just fine to add 1/4” worth of washers.

What kind or drop of a receiver are you using?

Just make damn sure that the nut has full thread engagement. Anything less could either come loose or would be significantly weaker.

There are specific balls that are designed to be taller too. Then no worries.
