Hey guys – heading up to Rainy this weekend. Going out of Island View (by Sha-Sha). I’ve fished Rainy once before, but it was years ago. How’s the bite been? Sounds like reefs are the place to be this time of year. Are there some good ones around Island View? Appreciate any thoughts.

I would highly recommend a lakemaster or navionics chip to show the reefs and hazard areas. There are a few reefs/shoals west of the Brule that wouldn’t be too far from Island View

If I was going this weekend, I would start on the reefs and work shallower (points) if nothing was on the reef

Thanks bugstorm. I do have a chip with LOW and rainy. Haven’t played with it yet but will. And will definitely use it while up there.

    Appreciate the recommendations.

Launch at Sha Sha and motor 100 yards to the main runway and put the motor in neutral. Within 2 minutes boats will be screaming past you headed towards the Brule Narrows and the main lake reefs west of the Brule Narrows. Hop in line and follow them out.

When you hit a reef if you don’t mark fish just move on.

I’m up at Rainy this week and we have done well on reefs like others have said as well as around Fox Island area. Best results seem to be a “run and gun” approach catch a couple and move on. At the end of the day you will have a limit. Monday the 4 of us all had limits in 5 hours. Shore lunch was fantastic yesterday. Weather has been great. Good luck.

Sounds like we need to find the reefs. I like Dutchboy’s idea of following the traffic flow. Will get us to the reefs AND help us avoid problem areas.

Taking my 6 year on his first big fishing trip- excited to have him put some fish in the boat. Thanks for the tips, all!
