I’m not sure where to post this so here it goes. I’m retiring after 20 years from the AF in March of 2016. I thought I would treat myself to a week long sturgeon fishing trip on rainy river. I don’t want a guide and I already have a boat and will get some gear for the trip. My only thing is I don’t know what time of year and good camp grounds to stay at for the trip. Any info would be great.

Start the day after walleye season closes. Not a lot of traffic then. Not sure about a camp grounds. Rooms are so cheap never even thought of looking for one. Good chance you could stay a entire week for a buck and a half in a cabin.

The spring is a good time to go,I have found the month of September is also a great time to go .The fish in the river tend to migrate up to the dam in IFalls .The fishing can be fantastic,my personal best came from the dam.The deep holes downstream of the Little fork river can hold a lot of fish in the fall too.
