Anyone have an update on the launches or an idea when they might be open with next week’s warm up coming? I know it’s a little early just wondering how many 40 degree days it will take to get things open up there.

I just got back from checking the Ifalls landing, not open yet ,but the river is open past the landing and as far down as I could see. With the weather forecasts looking for a nice warm up ,I wouldn’t be surprised if we can get on the river in a week or two.I will keep checking landings and get a hold of the county they are usually pretty good about getting them open.

Awesome thanks for the info Terry. I’m down in forest lake just north of the cities any future info on opening would be greatly appreciated so I can hook the boat on and make the trip asap.

Are we thinking a repeat of 2012?!?!? 4 mile bay in March? I was there and would love to do it again!

I just got back from checking the river at the Pelland landing west of I Falls about 10 miles. The ramp is not open yet but there is open water in the middle of the river upstream as far as I can see,and downstream it is open in the middle down to the island at the mouth of the Little Fork.
I will go back and check the river in a few days.

Here is what we got for today and I started a river conditions forum and will post in it everytime we check it. As for landings we did not stop at the Pelland Landing this trip

    March 9th, 2015:
We went and checked the river conditions today. It is one mile east of the Big Fork River which makes it 26.9 miles east of Birchdale (Nelson Landing).

The temperature according to the car was 46 degrees. Last year we started checking the river March 16, 2014 so we are 7 days earlier this year and almost in the same spot as last year (difference is about 3 miles further east this year than last year). It might be a few days til we check the river again as it is 100 miles round trip but we will make sure to have a report by Thursday evening.
