Rainy River in the fall

I tried planning a trip out to devils lake in September with my grandmas bf but can’t find time that works for both. We both have time in October so I asked if he would rather take the camper up and go to the rainy instead. I am sure he will want to spend most of the time walleye fishing but sturgeon will be targeted at some point. I have fished out of birchdale twice. If you were going up at the end of October would you spend your time upriver or down?

end of october the fish should be moving pretty good. really anywhere you put in should be good. we fish near vidas and have always done really well and it seems to not get the traffic birchdale gets. your chances of big walleye are good and your chance at a 50+ sturgeon are good as well.

Well we found a few issues with his camper so we won’t be bringing it up. What resorts would you guys recommended? Is it hard to get a room in the fall?

Depends on where you want to stay up there. Got a feeling if you are wanting to fish up river Royal Dutchman or Clemetson is where you will want to look.

I’m looking to sneak up at the end of October as well. If you could pick what part if the river to fish, where would you fish? I’m thinking I need to do some planning and get a room booked. I’m worried if I don’t, I won’t have a place to sleep. Is it that busy in the fall that people have a hard time finding an open room once they get up there? I would like to wait and see how the bite is going but don’t want to get bit in the butt either. Any recommendations for a place to stay would be greatly appreciated! This place doesn’t have to have all the bells and whistles either. Just a clean bed to sleep in.

Maybe look up the royal dutchman. They are nice enough to add reports to this forum.
