Just got back from Thunderbird Lodge on Rainy Lake. After rain and wind the first day rest of week was pretty good, mid 70’s and mostly lite winds. Afternoons were a little windy with 2 to 3′ waves, not to bad for big water. We easily caught our limits of slot size under 17″ Walleyes with lots over the slot. Mornings were best with mid day being slow. Best for us was 29′ jigging with minnows. Shore casting was a little slow but did produce our largest a 24.5″ walleye. As reported earlier the water is still very high with docks about 3′ under water. I would say it may be a month before “normal” conditions return. With the late spring the Walleyes are just now showing up on the reefs. Lots of boating traffic over the 4th.
