Hi I’m heading upto rainy lake for opening weekend of fishing and targeting mainly walleyes. I was wondering what kind of minnows should I be bringing so I’m not dropping A large amount of money on unnecessary minnows. Shiners are out this year due to supply being low but what other kinds should I bring along with other live bait since I already have a endless amount of plastics and don’t need extra. We have a elderly gentleman coming with and casting all day isn’t his thing and I want to do the best I can for him. Thanks

Fatheads and/or rainbows. Those darker lakes up in that section of the state I’ve never found shiners to be necessary.

In spring most any work. Summer and fall I prefer shiners.

Fish windy shorelines and it don’t have to be real windy. BFN Pulsars work well on Rainy.
