This is the best thing I’ve found on-line. 24-72 hour totals:
http://www.iweathernet.com/total-rainfall-map-24-hours-to-72-hoursMay 31, 2018 at 8:03 am #1777804I guess I don’t know how to post a link…
Its Iweathernet.com
Edit: Took a few tries but got it!! lol

I hate talking on the phone and don’t really want to bother the neighbors every time it rains. I am sure they have better things to do than be my personal meteorologist.
Thanks IceNEyes!!

Our national weather service location locally is at the Rochester Airport which is on top of a hill, a high point of the county, and maybe 16 miles from the local tv station. 12 miles from our house. I have three rain gauges that read very close to identical. The weather service can have one reading for rainfall totals while the tv station has another. Sometimes the spread is just hard to fathom especially with such a small area.

What’s a phone? Use your hand held computer and send a text message or use it to visit the website above.
May 31, 2018 at 8:32 am #1777817Here’s another decent website. If you click STATION NAME in the blue bar at the top it will put all the cities in alphabetical order. You can also click on maps in the right column to see exactly where the reporting stations are located.

I like this one a lot, thanks much!!

I personally use the NWS Twin Cities for most of my weather needs now, they are a very good follow on Twitter and assume they would be the same on Facebook. I can’t find the good observation maps that they produce right now but the NWS TC feed will post it after most decent rainfall events.
This is the national interactive map, it’s not as accurate as the good one I referenced above but you can make adjustments with the sliders/selections below the map to customize it for your preference. Hope this helps, good luck.

I measure daily rainfall and snowfall totals for this agency.
May 31, 2018 at 11:26 am #1777862Thanks Tom! It’s volunteers like you that make our lives much easier when determining when to water and how much. It’s also nice knowing the snowfall totals for snowmobiling in the winter.

One site is at Silver Lake, the other on Cascade Creek right behind the house. Ma and I are both volunteer severe weather watch persons too. On that note, we have had a couple really close calls with ugly weather stuff so we’ve sort of cooled our heels on what we’ll take on in that department.
I have a daily barometric pressure site I follow like a hawk for fishing, but it also ties right in with the other activities. Weather is interesting to follow, even more interesting to be in the midst of as long as it isn’t snow.
