I don’t know that they lie so much as they just won’t fess up to knowing they really don’t know what the weather will do. Currently that system that was centered in S.Dakota, just sat and went round and round….in S.Dakota…..it never moved in three days when they suggested it would. Our local news last night said they’ve downgraded the rain potential that we have been told we were going to get. For days they said Saturday would be wet but I watered as usual, because all I saw was that cell spinning out west, not moving east which we needed and then when it did all the water was spun out elsewhere. Our weather systems have been seriously screwed up this year and the weather dudes are doing predictions based on past weather scenarios, not the messed up stuff we have today.

What a joke…at least we have a cloudy day..first one since the opener I think.
Yesterday morning got almost an inch at the cabin, 10 miles away at the house didn’t get a drop..

August 6, 2023 at 6:00 pm #22178000.0” on the weekend here 2 miles from the shores of Pool 4.
As recently as Friday morning we were projected for 2-2.5” of rain total over the weekend.
I get the forecasts are only as good as the models, but there’s definitely a push towards the most extreme end of predictions to grab headlines, views, likes, shares, etc.
ThunderLund78Posts: 2669August 7, 2023 at 8:43 am #2217845We faired a little better, but less than 1/2″ in the forecasted “SOAKING RAIN” zone. Southern MN did get quite a bit though, and they needed it.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23299August 9, 2023 at 3:02 pm #2218220Barely enough to wet the ground here. Looks like a few stronger cells heading to the south.
August 11, 2023 at 7:15 am #2218408I got 1/2 inch overnight here. Looks like another chance later today. Certainly better than weeks of bone dry weather we had in May/June.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23299August 11, 2023 at 9:34 am #2218434Probably a 1/4+ overnight. Looks like we’re finally in a better weather pattern for a bit. Lawn is already looking much better than a couple weeks ago.

Its amazing what even a little rain will do!
August 11, 2023 at 9:53 am #22184380.10″ here this morning. Each of the few times it’s rained the garden looked so much better the next day or so. Rain sure beats the garden hose for giving it the good stuff.

1/2 inch here with mayhaps more later!!!!!!!
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23299August 11, 2023 at 9:59 am #2218440I was looking at a reported rain map and there were some real winners for sure. Missed us NOrth and South.
August 13, 2023 at 1:37 pm #2218632Are we ready to call this upcoming rain event a “bust” like that last forecasted 2-3” storm total that amounted to a few drops for most?
We didn’t get a drop this morning, and it’s 1:30 and looking lighter than it has all day. On Friday the news forecasters were showing maps of localized 3+” amounts for Saturday and Sunday in our area. It’s really going to have to pour for a long time overnight to make that prediction a reality here.
August 13, 2023 at 5:53 pm #2218641Looking at the radar looks like we will be getting a nice rain for a while. Good we need it
Nice slow rain now!
August 14, 2023 at 7:25 am #2218669I’ve got 1.5 inches in my gauge this morning from the overnight rain. I think it was more of a steady, constant rain rather than these heavy down pours, so that is very beneficial.
LabDaddy1Posts: 2484August 14, 2023 at 7:53 am #2218672Last night/this morning was so refreshing. Good, steady rain for many hours here in the S. Metro. Not to mention nice and cool.
Vegetation has really come back to life in the last week or two, also, which is GREAT to see!
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23299August 14, 2023 at 8:50 am #2218682Ive got over an inch, but I have to empty the middle gauge to dump the big part into it to know how much we got in total. I am guessing at least 1.5″
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23299August 14, 2023 at 10:48 am #2218718Just over 3 inches here. Needed that.
Will be the first time all summer we won’t have to water the gardens for a few days…that was starting to get old..
August 14, 2023 at 12:14 pm #22187471.1” here by Pool 4 with a light drizzle hanging on. It’s a far cry from the 2-4” forecasted, but this should help things for a week or so.
August 14, 2023 at 1:09 pm #2218758The deer must be loving it, I have over 100 pictures from this morning when I left at 4 to now
