Yep no crossing the tracks but the Railroads can’t keep trains on the tracks. I guess they are unsafe. whistling

THEY are running trains on tracks beside the river during near record flooding and BIG SURPRISE the train derails

He did say that the tracks are located “well above” any floodwaters that have affected the river.

And sometimes flood waters affect ground well under the water line of the flood.

I used to walk across a railroad bridge down by Winona to fish the river all the time in college. Scene from “Stand By Me” was always in my head. Once I crossed I would sit and fish off the rip rap just past the far side of the bridge. There was a train about every 20-30 minutes and when you’re that close to them watching those big cars sway, it’s pretty unnerving. Great fishing spot, though.

MN and WI laws are different. No crossing tracks in WI.

MN has safer tracks I guess.

On a side note, I fished for cats very close to shore and the train tracks. On the radio, they said the tracks in that area were the worst in the state. When a train went by, I could feel in in the boat. They did a lot of work on the tracks in that area since then, but I still shy away from fishing too close to them.

Kind of like behind cars. Three car lengths away minimum. crazy
