I just ordered a new Skeeter and I am looking for rail mounted rod holders. Anyone have any opinions?

Since you checkbook is open, go with metal ones. All the major brands are very very good. Traxstech, Berts, Cannon. I assume they all have rail mount options.

I have Traxstech track mount and have never had an issue. Wouldn’t consider another brand because there is no reason to.

I’ve been running the Folbe mounts for around ten years for flathead, channel cats and Lake Sturgeon (plus s alittle walleye trolling her and there.

These mounts were made for Washington State’s salmon and jumbo sturgeon. I’ve heard of one breaking and that was because of a dock collision.

I have 4 on my skeeter Solara. Two on the rails and two on the hand rails for entering the boat while your in the water. (I had a port side rail added)

They are solid and just need to lift up on your rod to get the rod out of the holder.

I have 4 Traxstech rail mounts I am planning on selling this spring. Used for 3 months on my skeeter last summer, and ended up having them cut the rail this fall and put track directly on the fiberglass. Railmount clamp and track sections for all 4. Let me know if you’d be interested I could get them out of storage and send some pics.

I have rail holders and you can never seem to get them tight.
I would love to have Trax but the boss like the look of the rails. Nough said.

I would look at the Cisco mounts. All machined aluminum and they can be taken off the rail quickly if you’d need to put the cover on the boat. Sturdy, won’t rust, break or “round off” like the fish on, cabelas, or Ram holders that have rail attachments. I’ve tried all the above and liked some when put on anything but the rail. In my opinion, yes, they’re pricey, but get something that’s sturdy and won’t compromise. I troll on Winnebago and on Lake Michigan for salmon. Worth every penny when you’re talking about the torque on a rod and holder when trolling with bigger dipsies. Also, you’ll find that if you ever wanted to part with them, they’re going to command very close to what you paid for them, they hold their value that well.

[/quote I have the ones that bolt on the rails from cabelas and the trick to keep them from turning was a piece of rubber innertube inside it, works great
