I liked kq morning show for a few years, but then they couldn’t keep people on the air with Tom and his Schtick got stale as a cracker in King tut’s tomb. The other thing I got so sick of was the guy going on and on about his wife, like she was Ms. America combined with Marilyn Savant. Hell for all I know Cathy might be more like Lia Thomas.

Same. I enjoyed it when it was Tom, Terri, Sanny, Passolt, Stretch, etc. I’ve tried listening to his podcast and man does that guy have an ego. Every episode has some of him whining about all the people that screwed him in the past.

For the old guys on here, who else listened to the Cannon Mess? At the height of his popularity, it was the most listened to program in the entire country. I sure miss the barking dogs, Ma Linger, and Backlash Larue.

KFAN for me when listening to the radio. Otherwise, podcasts and Spotify.

In the car it’s PL 103.7 and 107.5 when up that way fishing in the summer. At work it’s rockin 101 but I can’t stand Jonny rock in the mornings. Sometimes 101 doesn’t come in so we have to do country but after hearing the same song 2-3 times in a couple hours the ear buds go in.

I didn’t tune it in, but the neighbor where I used to help milk cows had it on…

Our radio stations in this market just plan suck. No classic rock anymore, we have no Hip Hop stations. Corporate media is ruining my listening experience. Guess now I have to create a station and Bluetooth stream from my phone now.

Along with Boone and Erickson. If we were going fishing or hunting with Dad that was what we listen to unless it was out of range which took a lot. If we were out west a ways it was the Polka station out of New Ulm.

I know it won’t be lots of people’s cup of tea just due to the politics. BUT, I listen to the current quite a bit just for the variety, and the focus on local artists. I really like their United States of Americana show on the weekends when I can catch it.

Sports radio in Chicago is dead. 670 Score rates lower than some local religion stations and 1000 ESPN does not even make the ratings.

I listen to a local station while in the shop working but when I get tired of all the yacking between songs I go to my pile of Irish Pub CDs and toss a couple in the trays and then really enjoy the music.

It does make the drive more enjoyable not listening to how Toms best friends with every celebrity or twins players. He sure does like himself.

Like everyone else mentioned some variety would be nice.

I remember WCCO as Boone & Erickson for the morning drive and Cannon the afternoon drive. But, i may have that turned around, it’s been awhile.

You got it right. They always started the show with the Good Morning Good Morning jingle. Was always up early to go fish Mille lacs with dad and Mom packing us a nice lunch. Radio was on in the kitchen while Mom was getting things ready and getting the coffee going.

I don’t consider myself old, but the Cannon Mess brings up GREAT memories of being a kid on the school bus. I lived in the country and had an hour-long ride home. My bus driver always had it on. I don’t even really remember the content, but I remember the barking dogs. Just hearing you mention it brings me back to bouncing around on dusty gravel roads in old bus.

Then there was Heinz and Burgland on WLOL. I had a guy put carpet in our former house about 15 years ago. He had a ratty old WLOL stocking cap on and I asked him about it. Turns out he was Dave Bush who used to come on in the daytime, right after Heinz and Burgland. He told me some stories about the classic radio days in the Twin Cities…

KDWB had Buck & O’Connor and after that Steve Cochrane. There used to be some serious morning competition back in the day…

I really enjoyed all the “bits” that KQ would do… the old Chucker in the playhouse phone calls of supposed celeb’s… then the bed time stories with uncle burnsie & the cash call bits & phony dmv/dnr calls !

When I was at the U of MN Twin Cities, I would ride home with my dad quite often. He worked downtown. He would listen to it.

    POINT OF LAAAAAAW!!

I remember setting up the tape deck to start recording at midnight when KQ would play albums non-stop. I think one of the overnight djs was Benjie McHie. I pictured Venus Flytrap from WKRP in Cincinnati when I heard him.

I like the radio because I bounce around between the shop, home, work, and truck quite a bit. I don’t want or need to constantly control the tunes and especially change or carry a speaker around.

I literally stopped listening to KQ just this year because the same songs were always on. Particularly Queen.

This is after about two decades of nothing BUT KQ.

    Hope they figure it out.

They would do a bit as Finn and Gill. Corny Scandinavian jokes but I loved it.

I love RadioK, 770AM the U of M radio station. You never know what you are going to hear and you do have to wade through some rather self indulgent… not sure what it is, but you also get some truly amazing unheard talent. Always worth a listen and if they are playing god knows what, it’s easy enough to change the channel and listen to talk radio pollute my mind.
