RABC suspended/paused

The CBSA has paused processing of new RABC applications for an undetermined amount of time. Current RABC permits will be honored thru expiration.

Canadian government isn’t giving any explanation but some folks are surmising that this is related to the expected wave of asylum seekers once trump starts his promised wave of deportations. it would certainly be a lot more efficient for the mountees to spot illegal remote border crossings if they just make ALL remote border crossings illegal. all conjecture at this point, and Canada isn’t exactly known for explaining themselves. We’ll see how this shakes out.

Personally this throws a wrench in my annual trip to the Canadian side of Saganaga. Only realistic way in would be to cross in a car and then fly in via float plane, which ain’t happening. There are a handful of border lakes like this where the Canadian side is really only accessible via boat from the US side, no access ramps on the Canadian side at all. For the US citizens who own cabins on the Canadian side, this really sucks.

I’d lock my front door too. Can’t blame them.

They’re far more proactive than our “leadership” has been in recent years.

I’m a much happier person knowing my tax dollars will be putting diesel into deportation buses…instead of paying for gender-reassignment surgeries for felons in prison.

    There is hope for America!!

Amen. Canada is doing the right thing. To bad it’s inconvenient for some non residents to have to plan a different route for there personal hobbies but they are doing what’s right for there country.
It’s sad our current administration didn’t do that for us.

Any thoughts on how this might effect fishing the Canadian side of the Rainy River on the spring?

I assume you’re still fine to cross water borders, just can’t touch land or anchor

Yeah the whole point of that rule was you could fish and travel without the RABC so hoping nothing changes there

Unfortunately my current RABC expires in early 2025. I require the RABC for current plans in late May…. I guess, always have a plan b, c and d…

OK I’ll bite. First I have no clue what the RABC is, but why couldn’t a US CITIZEN cross with the proper paperwork??

Remote Area Border Crossing permit. Allows US citizens to present their paperwork in advance via mail/email instead of showing up in person at international falls or Thunder Bay, which is hundreds of miles out of the way if you intend to visit a remote area somewhere in between the 2. For some border lakes there is almost no access from the Canadian side without a float plane. You are still clearing customs you just aren’t doing it in person. Heavily used by people traveling to the southern portion of quetico or to the Canadian side of lakes like LOTW, Saganaga, etc.

Never ceases to amaze me how people on this site will never miss an opportunity to throw jabs to one side of the aisle but yet at the same time are completely oblivious to the travesties on the other side of the aisle.

We are well aware. But this directly correlates to shutting borders down most likely do to a mass deportation from our land. Which is been a giant issue for the last 4 years more so then ever in the history of the US. So it seemed fitting.

    Travesties like? No open borders?
No foreign wars? Cheaper gas? No endless spending and printing of money? No sex changes for felons in prison? No guys in girls restrooms or sports? Could you please enlighten us garbage deplorable neanderthals?

Should not impact us. Will still be able to boat across and fish with proper licenses, just still can’t touch land, anchor, etc.

Other note, if my jig can be dragging on the bottom, why can I not anchor???? Drives me nuts and asked the Ontario COs last spring. They didn’t seem to care nor even know that was a rule for us and told me to ask the border patrol guys.

i really didn’t start this thread with politics in mind. I know it’s border related and everyone is amped up, but it would be cool if we could just have a civil discussion on a sportsman’s level without throwing darts across the aisle.

Before even getting into policies, let’s talk January 6th. Let’s see the mental gymnastics you do to shrug that one off.

Riiiiiight. Can’t wait for this one. Was it actualy an AI rendering of Trump at that rally that was telling people to go on down to the Capitol and fight? How about trumps right hand man Giuliani telling people to have “trial by combat”?

What about it? Pelosi not allowing the national Gaurd to step in?
    Trump saying go peacefully?
The capital police letting them in the building?
The truth and what you’ve been told from the MSM are two different things.
No police were injured, only one fatality that day and it was an unarmed patriot woman. There was no violence or destruction of property like the left’s George Floyd riots.
Remember kamala helped bail those rioters out of jail?
Walz and his wife left their windows open to enjoy the smell of burning rubber and buildings because it was the smell of change in the air. They also let that go on for 3 days without any assistance to MPD from the National Gaurd. 3+ days of violence vs not even one full day with little to no violence on j6.

Jan 6th? That was child’s play compared to the George Floyd riots in Minnesota.

    Stop being realistic OGnetman

January 6th is estimated to have cost 2.7 million dollars. That’s a lot of money in this day and age.

Not sure what that insignificant riot in Minneapolis cost, but maybe a non-nazi would be as so kind to look it up for me mrgreen

All I could find was this??

What amazes me nowadays is how very, very few people can say both were bad. Both were BS and shouldn’t have happened.

I can say it. Both are unacceptable, despicable events that I would never even consider partaking in. And anyone who did should be punished appropriately.

Yes, I agree. Both were bad and should not have happened but I will say again that one was child’s play compared to the other.
